Dear Friends,
My cold weather visitors.
A famous quote about winter by Edith Sitwell states “Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” The great thing about this time is that the quiet fosters creativity in all of the arts. Recently I shared with you pictures of the Moss Foundation quilt chosen for this year’s raffle. Now I would like to introduce you to our quilters. Brenda Dahl of Iowa created and pieced this magnificent quilt. The quilting was done by Jan Snyder. Brenda said she was attracted to the purple cow centerpiece because of its whimsical nature and because she loved the poem as a child. The poem I am referring to was penned by Gelett Burgess in the late 1800’s. It goes like this:
I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one!
Brenda Dahl (L) and quilter Jan Snyder teamed up to create the Purple Cow quilt. Their generous donation of expertise, time and materials will assist the Moss Foundation fundraising this year.
I am so grateful for all of our quilters, many of whom have made more than one quilt. For anyone interested in making a quilt for the Foundation, you may contact the Foundation office for information at foundation@mossfoundation.org, or 800-430-1320.
Until next week,
Love,
