Dear Friends,

Hooray for heroes! When my daughter Becky’s car recently had a flat tire on the interstate, Mr. J.C. Poff came to our rescue.

Becky and I are scheduled for a number of trips this year. She will accompany me to Des Moines, Iowa this weekend for the Iowa Public Television release of my 2020 fundraising print titled, Historic Buildings of Des Moines. The unveiling of the print will be held on Sunday, March 1st at the television station. I will be meeting collectors and donors and signing prints. I have made some special friends over the years at this event and this annual reunion is always a treat. Speaking of reunions, I am delighted that Mother Nature seems to be cooperating and I will get to have dinner with my dear Moss Society friends at the Central Iowa Chapter.

Central Iowa Chapter of the Moss Society 2019. Hard to believe that a year has gone by already!

I took this picture on one of Becky’s and my recent journeys. Do you recognize it? It is Pilot Mountain located in Surry County, North Carolina. I am thinking of doing a painting of it.

My career has spanned a number of decades, and throughout this time, change has been constant. What has been comforting is the number of Moss Society members and Moss dealers who have been with me on this journey. A good example is Frame Haven Gallery of Springfield, Ohio. They are a wonderful example of changing but remaining the same. The business opened in 1979 and we met when they became a Moss dealer in 1987. In 2002 or 2003 the business was sold, and the new owners Don and Audrey McKanna wanted to continue the Moss tradition by retaining the Moss dealership. I just learned that they moved from their longtime location on Goodwin St. to 126 E. Main St., a more centralized location. Audrey said in a recent newspaper interview, “In the last year or so the thought of moving downtown became more and more attractive. There are so many exciting shops opening up in Springfield, restaurants are heading this way and a large part of our customers encouraged us to look downtown. When we found a property that suited us well, we were thrilled to begin the next chapter in Frame Haven’s story.” I am looking forward to when our paths will cross again, and I wish them continued success.

Do stop by and welcome Frame Haven to their new location. Grand opening will be held Friday, March 6 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Photo Credits: Springfield News- Sun and Audrey McKanna.
