Dear Friends,

It’s Time! I will be in Waynesboro this weekend for the Spring Gallery Open House with the P Buckley Moss Gallery of Waynesboro. Springtime in Waynesboro is magical, and I’m excited to share it with you. Preparations for this show began weeks ago, and I think you will adore all the framed and new artwork that have come from Corrado’s frame shop.

In the LH upper photo I am working on the painting that became the show print, Blue Ridge Spring, based on local landmark Dodd’s Cabin. If you look closely above that painting, you’ll see another version of Dodd’s Cabin. Frequently I will paint 2 or 3 versions of a subject until I develop a painting that is aesthetically pleasing and accurate. The lower photos show an actual photo of the cabin next to a close-up of my drawing of it.

The Moss Foundation Quilt will be making its debut at the gallery and I encourage you to join me in supporting children’s education by buying raffle tickets. The tickets are $3 each, or 2 for $5. The funds generated from this year’s raffle will benefit the P Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship and the Teacher Grants program. To learn more about the crucial work by my Foundation, please visit

Lovingly made and donated by Nancy Gore, this quilt is so much more majestic when seen in person. To purchase your tickets during the Waynesboro Open House, please see Shirley Collins at the gallery. At all other times, kindly contact the Moss Foundation directly by email at or by calling 800-430-1320. Office hours are: M-Th, 9-5; and Fridays from 9-4. All times are Eastern.

April is National Poetry Month. The written word is very dear to me and I like to think of poetry as painting with words. In closing this newsletter I’d like to share a stanza from Christina Rossetti’s poem titled, “Spring.”

Blows the thaw-wind pleasantly,
Drips the soaking rain,
By fits looks down the waking sun:
Young grass springs on the plain;
Young leaves clothe early hedgerow trees;
Seeds, and roots, and stones of fruits,
Swollen with sap put forth their shoots;
Curled-headed ferns sprout in the lane;
Birds sing and pair again

Until next week,
