Dear Friends,

The world around me is full of wonders and I keep discovering more things that I want to paint. I have just finished working on a large mouth bass painting which will be released May 5th at the Moss Gallery of Blacksburg. The gallery will be donating a portion of the proceeds from their sales of this print to the Friends of Claytor Lake, FOCL, for the month of May. FOCL is a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving and protecting the quality, sustainability, and tranquility of the environment of Claytor Lake for all. Here is a preview.

Lurking in the Shallows

We had the most beautiful weather for last weekend’s Spring Barn Show and Gallery Open House. I think without exception, we can agree that this has been a bit of a trying Spring when it comes to the weather. I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to come to this show. I especially would like to extend my gratitude to the Moss Society volunteers who faithfully assist with all of these shows. I couldn’t do it without you!

Thank you!

What a wonderful greeting having these lovely daffodils and pansies at the cottage door.

May Johnson (foreground) joined me as I shared a good story with my collectors. On the back wall of this photo, you can see some of the small framed originals that my children hung. I think they had a great time decorating together!

I was delighted that Carson Gibson stopped by to show me the framed remarque of
Falling Spring Falls that I did for him last fall.

Each day of the Barn Show one of the Moss Society Chapters welcomes collectors to the Barn and sells raffle tickets. These tickets sales generate money for their chapter’s charitable projects. In this photo from Saturday, Bob Almond and Pat Whitlow from Moss on the James are selling tickets for a framed
St. John’s Revisited print. Pat’s Blue Goose Chapter sold tickets on Friday.

This year’s Moss Foundation quilt looked like it belonged in my Barn! The drawing for this quilt, made by Lana Kleimon, is going to be held at the Waynesboro Gallery on December 9, 2018. You may purchase your tickets, 1 for $3, or 2 for $5, by calling the Foundation office at 800-430-1320. The office hours are M–F, 8:30–5 Eastern.

My new release, Fall Reflections, will debut in the Moss Blacksburg Gallery on May 5th and 6th. This show is coming up quickly and you won’t want to miss it!  My daughters have assembled a collection of framed and unframed originals that will be on display. They had such fun decorating the Barn so I’m excited to see what they have picked out. The gallery will also be having a drawing for a Moss gift basket. The hours of the show will be 11am to 4pm on Saturday, and noon to 3pm on Sunday. I hope to see you there.

Fall Reflections

Lovely sentiment on a painted rock that I found when I was out walking this week. I left it in its place for others to enjoy.

Until next week,

Love,
