Mother's Day is May 9, 2021!

Dear Friends,

For still there are so many things
That I have never seen,
In every wood in every spring
There is a different green.  J.R.R. Tolkien

I am sitting here at my drawing table and happened to glance at my wall calendar. I find myself wondering how April could have gone by so quickly. My return to Radford a few weeks ago had felt a bit like a reset, since the arrival of spring here is a few weeks behind my Chesapeake Bay home. I am beginning preparations for my show next week with 3rd Avenue Art Gallery and Custom Framing by Jenks in Huntington, West Virginia. One of my daughters will be travelling with me. Again, I am grateful that we can resume some of our public life again, but I ask everyone to continue with the Covid prevention protocols.  My wish is that our gathering will be not only be a happy one, but a safe one too. My new print for release at this show is titled, Camden Park. This amusement park has been part of the Huntington culture since 1903, when it first was established by Camden Railway Company as a picnic spot. Places like this have a way of weaving their way into a community’s heart especially when it has been there for so many years. The first ride in the park was the carousel, so I thought it appropriate to feature it in my painting.

Carousel at Camden Park. My show with 3rd Avenue Art Gallery is on Saturday, May 8th. I will be there to meet you and sign my work from 10 am until 5 pm Eastern.

Camden Park is available in 2 sizes. IS: 7-1/4 x 11-1/4 ins. $75; IS: 11 x 17 ins. $160. Edition 500 and 25 ap’s. For additional show information, you may contact the gallery at 304-522-1112.

Recently I had the privilege of participating in a community awareness program called “I Got the Shot.”  Initiated by Jennifer Kearney, owner of Joy Photography of Waynesboro, the aim of this photographic collection is to promote community wellness by receiving the Covid vaccine. Each one of us who participated were asked if we wanted to share the reason we were compelled to be vaccinated. Jennifer and I got into conversation during my session. She told me about how her sons had benefitted from a Moss Society Summer Arts program. She said how much more focused and relaxed they were. I am always thrilled to hear stories pertaining to the outreach and profound effect that the Moss Society and Foundation programs have had. Working together we make a difference.

I hope you will consider joining me and receiving the Covid vaccine. While it will not prevent Covid, medical professionals tell us that the vaccinations greatly improve our chances of surviving this deadly virus.

Until Next week,
