Dear Friends,

The skies have been a brilliant blue and the air crisp since we boarded the Royal Princess in London. I am travelling with the Quilt Camp at Sea, hosted by Len and Pat Tobin. It is such a delight to spend time with all of these creative people.

A gathering of quilters sharing some of their artistry. Keri Duke (center) and Pat Tobin (R).

Keri Duke surprised me with some quilt squares that she made for me using my images. Aren’t the cardinals beautiful?

When I am on one of these journeys, I have some down time for rest. I also refill my artist’s eye with an array of new images that I would like to paint. You may have to help me choose. I will have more pictures for you next week.

A colorful view of low tide at St. Peter Port on the island Guernsey.

We visited the Trinity Library, home to a very well-known book. The Book of Kells is housed here. It was written around 800 AD and is one of the world's most famous manuscripts. This book of the four gospels was written entirely in Latin and ornately decorated.

My grandchildren from L to R, Kate, Michael, Sean and Sarah. What wonderful companions to have with me on this cruise.

I am honored to have received one of the Citizen of New River Valley Awards. These awards are given annually by the New River Valley Commission to people making a difference in our community. The reception was held at Sinkland Farms and my daughter Becky received the award on my behalf.

Becky with fellow award recipients David Hagan of Blacksburg and Susan Kidd of Narrows. Our awards were made by artist Erin Collins and is a limited edition block print of three. On the far left is Kevin Byrd, Executive Director of NRVRC. On the far right is Joe Carpenter.

When you stand in for me, you get the entire job.

I have a preview of a painting that I have completed for my upcoming show, June 1st and 2nd, with King James Galleries of Gettysburg. It is titled The Den and features a local landmark. Do you recognize it? I will have the rest of the story next week.

The Den

I am looking forward to the annual Moss Foundation fundraising dinner to be held July 7th at my Waynesboro home. The guest list is growing quickly and I’m delighted that I will get to reconnect with so many friends. It is being held the weekend of the annual Barn Show and Gallery Open House, so there will be plenty to see and do. For tickets, you may call 800-430-1320 or you may purchase them online at Eventbrite. For more information, click here.

Look who stopped by the Blacksburg Gallery last week! While I am with my daughter Mary and her children touring the British Isles, Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle took time out of their busy schedule for a brief visit. The Gallery staff was thrilled to have them there, even though they were very quiet.

Until next week,

Love,
