Dear Friends,

“There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature – the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” -Rachel Carson

The Mathews Portfolio staff has been enjoying some special visitors this spring. Following the parade of Canada geese, there has been a small herd of rabbits lingering around the printer building and picnic table.

My daughter Becky and I had a fun filled week that began with an opening night reception at King James Galleries of Gettysburg. The gallery surprised me with a delicious birthday cake. I enjoyed reuniting with so many people and made some new friends. I loved how the gallery was hung.  With the addition of the Moss Foundation quilt, I felt right at home.

Best part of my day is meeting with you, the collector, wherever you call home.

Busy gallery!

The Den, my new release, framed and ready to go.

I have been working with the P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and have created a painting for them. The P.E.O. Sisterhood is a positive force for women’s education. This organization of women for women is focused on providing educational opportunities through scholarships and grants. They celebrate, educate, and motivate women to “reach for the stars”. Part of the proceeds from this print will be going to one of the scholarship funds that the P.E.O offers.

In one month, on July 7th, I will be hosting the annual fundraising dinner for the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education at my Waynesboro home. Do you have your tickets? This is such a fun gala for me and I am really looking forward to it. I’d like to promise that it won’t rain, but we are prepared in case it does. The dinner is a great opportunity to help provide educational opportunities for those (like me) who learn differently. This year we will be enjoying the musical duo, The Little Tangents, from Richmond, Virginia. There will be live and silent auctions filled with unique Moss art available to round out your collection. My children have assembled gift baskets. I can’t tell you what is in them, but I’m hoping to get 1 or 2 of them. I am working on a surprise gift for all of my guests.

For ticket information, please call the Foundation office at 800-430-1320 or visit:

For the Love of Children

As many of you know I grew up in Staten Island, New York. The Yankees and Dodgers were part of my childhood. Now that I live in Radford, Virginia I am enjoying reconnecting with a home team through their minor league affiliate, the Pulaski Yankees. Last year I was contacted by the team’s owner group, David Hagan and Larry Shelor, and asked to paint Calfee Park, the home stadium for the Yankees. On June 11th, my daughter Becky and I will be attending a signing event for this print as part of the early season festivities. This print is available for purchase at the team MiLB website or by following this link.

Here’s your invitation to this wonderful event!

Until next week,
