Dear Friends:
I’ve spent a delightful week working in my studio and my garden, and I had a wonderful visit from my brother-in-law Bill Martin and my nephew Pete on Sunday. Pete lives in Roanoke, Virginia, and Bill came up from Texas to visit him. It was such a pleasure being with them both.
L. to R.: My nephew Pete Martin, me, my brother-in-law Bill Martin, and my daughter Mary.
Last week I shared some paintings I had been working on, including three in varying stages of development for my September 9 show at historic Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown, Virginia, with King James Galleries of Winchester (VA). Only one of the paintings will be printed for the show, and a new picture showing its progression appears below. The piece depicts a sheepdog at work with Belle Grove Plantation in the background. Belle Grove will be hosting the National Sheepdog Finals September 26-October 1.
Working on this painting brought back wonderful memories of my Quilt Camp at Sea Cruise to Australia and New Zealand last year. While in New Zealand, my daughter Mary and I visited a sheep farm and got to experience a sheepdog herding sheep first-hand. I so very much enjoyed these amazing dogs that herd sheep without hurting them and their intelligence in understanding the commands of their handlers.
My next show will be my Gallery Show and Barn Open House in Waynesboro, Virginia, July 7-9. I’m excited to share with you two special prints that will be released during the show.
Swanky Rooster and Mom’s Essentials will be released during my July 7-9 Gallery Show and Barn Open House in Waynesboro, VA. For more information, please call my Waynesboro gallery at 540-949-6473.
After the show on Saturday, July 8, the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education will host a fundraising event on the Commemorative Walkway & Patio at the Moss Barn. The event will also commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the P. Buckley Moss Society, and each attendee will receive a special complimentary print in honor of the Society’s thirty years and the Foundation’s spirit of giving. Tickets are $32 per person and may be purchased from the Foundation (540-932-1728), my Waynesboro gallery (540-949-6473), my Blacksburg gallery (540-552-6446), or P. Buckley Moss Galleries, Ltd. (1-800-430-1320). Tickets must be purchased by June 29. Dinner will be catered by Hank’s Smokehouse Southern Grillery, and there will be silent and live auctions. One of the live auction items is a fabulous quilted wall hanging featuring one of my hand-painted centerpieces. For more information, please contact the Foundation office at 540-932-1728.
Soaring will be given to each ticket-holder attending the Foundation’s fundraising event on July 8 at the Moss Barn in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the P. Buckley Moss Society. This print is only available to attendees of this event.
This fabulous, patriotic quilted wall hanging will be a featured item in the silent auction. It was designed and stitched by Jeannine McNeill and Linda Gorman.
