Dear Friends:

We all had such fun last weekend at my July Gallery Show and Barn Open House, as well as Saturday evening’s celebration of the P. Buckley Moss Society’s 30th Anniversary.  Long-time collectors and friends, as well as new ones, came to see my new work, and my new Swanky Rooster giclée was a big hit.

Catherine Brighton of Charlottesville, VA, was delighted to purchase the #1 print of
Swanky Rooster.

Saturday night’s dinner in celebration of the Society’s 30th Anniversary was well-attended.  It was hosted by the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education, and also served as a fundraising event for the Foundation.

My friend Carol Megill came down from Pittsburgh, PA, and we struck a pose together beside my famous Una Ballerina statue.  Carol and I have both been members of the Society since its beginning in 1987.  Other 30-year members present at the dinner, but not pictured here, included Sharon Gaskill, Karen Morris, Jean Evenson, Laura DeRamus, Dot Hiter, and my daughters Becky Ghezzi and Mary Donnelly.

This exquisitely designed and stitched quilt, incorporating one of my hand-painted centerpieces, was made and donated to the Foundation by Jeannine McNeill and Linda Gorman.  It was featured in the evening’s live auction and sparked a bidding war between my friend and Society member Ginny Myers and Kim Black, wife of Commandant Black of Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Virginia.  Ginny prevailed and was the lucky winner.

While we auctioned one quilt for the Foundation over the weekend, another was completed and shipped to us.  Many thanks to Penny Westbrook of Ball Ground, Georgia, for designing and stitching the beautiful quilt pictured below.  Penny incorporated both machine stitching and hand stitching in her creation.

After the show Friday evening, a group of friends, collectors, and dealers went both separately and collectively to Luray, Virginia, and had dinner at my son John’s new restaurant Moonshadows.  My youngest son Chris also stopped there on his way down from New York, so John had a restaurant full of Moss family and friends.

Surprising my chef son John Friday evening at his Moonshadows Restaurant in Luray, VA.

In conjunction with an exhibit of my work at The Moneta-Smith Mountain Lake Library in Moneta, Virginia, Society members Don Bunce and Ed Morgan (members of the Moss in the Valley Chapter), along with The General Store at Smith Mountain Lake and the Friends of the Moneta-Smith Mountain Lake Library, are hosting a reception this Saturday, July 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the library.  Collectors are welcome to bring two previously purchased Moss prints for me to sign, and some of my prints will also be available for sale during the reception.  The exhibit will be on display at the library through the month of August.

Love,
