Dear Friends,

I have had just the best week and I almost don’t know where to begin my story. Gallery open houses, Moss Foundation Dinner and my beautiful granddaughter Sarah, receiving her P.H.D. were all part of what I would call an extraordinary week.

I have a Dr. Donnelly on each side of me! Congratulations Sarah for a job well done. I am so proud of you.

The beginning of the week started off slowly with no indication of the whirlwind of excitement to come. I had been asked by the Montgomery County, VA Chamber business leaders to participate in an Arts Panel to discuss the successes of and needs for various arts programs in the Blacksburg area. Southwest Virginia, like so many parts of our country, has such a need for programs and supplies to be able to give children opportunities for expression through art. I don’t know if you saw the list for teacher’s grants that were awarded for the 2019-20 school year by the Moss Foundation. I think it is important for you, my friends and members of the Moss Society, to see where your donations are going. Please follow this link to read about these vital programs.

Upon my arrival to my Barn in Waynesboro, I was delighted to see the meticulous care and attention that my gardens had received in my absence. My daughter Ginny gave me the best present by caring for them.

My daughter Patty joined me in the rocking chairs on the porch of the cottage. I hope you enjoyed this view too on your Barn Show visit.

A light rain seemed to make the colors just pop on all the blooms.

Thank you everyone who came and made this such a special weekend for me at the Summer Barn Show and Gallery Open House. I’d especially like to acknowledge the local Moss Society members who faithfully help me at the Barn and oversee each day’s activities. I was glad that most of you stayed for the Moss Foundation Fundraising Dinner that was held on Saturday night. This year we welcomed 91 guests to my patio for a wonderful dinner provided by Blue Oregano of Waynesboro. The evening air was filled with the harmonious melodies of Richmond duo, The Little Tangents. If you were unable to attend, I hope you’ll consider coming next year.

My patio was filled (my heart too) with Foundation Dinner guests.

Foundation Board Treasurer Bev Mann helped with quilt raffle ticket sales. The drawing will be held in December in Waynesboro, so you have plenty of time to get your tickets. The quilt has become my travelling companion and will be on display at my shows throughout the summer and fall.

For my next show, August 2-4 in Blacksburg, VA, I will have a special treat in store for anyone who has ever travelled to Italy. Over the past 2 months I have been working on a number of paintings from images that I sketched while visiting Venice. When it came time to decide which one to print for this show, no one could decide on just one, so there are 2 new prints being released. Here they are.

Basilica of Santa Maria Della Salute, $85 IS: 12-5/16 x 8 ins. Edition 500 and 25 AP’s

Rialto Remembered, $85 IS: 8 x 12-7/16 ins. Edition 500 and 25 AP’s

Until next week,
