Dear Friends,

Surprise reunions just might be one of the best things ever conceived. Longtime friends Randy and Ginny Myers just “popped” into Blacksburg last weekend for the gallery open house during the Steppin’ Out Festival. I was thrilled to see them and it made my show all that much more special. The Blacksburg Gallery welcomed friends and collectors from all over at the new gallery location as well as at a downtown booth at the festival. On Friday I visited our downtown booth and found myself reminiscing about the excitement and fun of my early days showing at street fairs.

Ginny and Randy Myers. How happy I was to see these two! I am grateful to photographer Joe Jennelle for capturing this moment for me.

I loved that our booth was situated right by a giant pot of black-eyed susans.

My next stop will be in Mathews, Virginia on August 17th for the release of the 45th Annual Mathews Market Days poster. Although this will be a brief visit, I will return for the Market Days Festival which is being held on September 6th and 7th. I was honored to create the poster and wanted to capture as much of the Mathews County story as I could. It is such a beautiful place, and each season has a gift to give. So, in the painting, I acknowledged each season and the prominent landmarks and events that are part of Mathews everyday life. I hope you like it.

Mathews Market Days poster release is from 11 am until noon at The Bay School, 279 Main St in Mathews.

While I generally like to not look too far ahead, I find myself thinking about the 2020 Society trip. This time we will be exploring Britain and Ireland. We’ll have stops in Scotland and Wales too. I asked Moss Foundation board member Lois Badey what she was most looking forward to. She said that she was intrigued by the culinary prospects, namely the Irish cooking class. The trip dates are from May 22 – June 5, 2020. Collette Travel has put the itinerary together for us and it is delightful. What I like best about the schedule is all the different experiences offered. It looks like it will be hard to decide on some days what to see. I am including a link to take you to the page where you can view this fantastic journey.  If you have never been on a Moss Society trip, I encourage you to come.
