Dear Friends,
Our annual Moss Dealers’ meeting was held last weekend at my Barn in Waynesboro, VA. I travelled from Radford with my daughter, Becky Ghezzi, manager of our Blacksburg Gallery, to attend. We had dealers attending representing Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Chris Moss, Patty Moss, Angie Clawson and Mary Morgan, staff members from our Mathews office, came to share insights and new product details with everyone. It was a wonderful time and could best be described as a joyful celebration as the dealers, the staff and I worked together. There was much discussion and I think everyone went away with a feeling of accomplishment and excitement. There was no shortage of food as my daughter Becky prepared delicious meals to keep everyone going. Saturday night we all convened at the Green Leaf restaurant in downtown Waynesboro for a delicious dinner.
Soon the wheels on the van will be turning again. On August 19th I will be with my friends at King James Galleries in Gettysburg for the release of my new print, Pride of Maryland. This piece features the Baltimore oriole and its intricately woven nest. This hanging nest takes approximately one week to construct and is done by the female using long strands of grass. These beautiful birds inhabit the eastern part of the United States, but only in the summer months. I am so happy to include them in my collection of birds.
Pride of Maryland is my new print to be released at King James Galleries in Gettysburg. King James Galleries is located at 15 Baltimore St., Gettysburg, PA 17325. You can reach them at (717) 398-2034. For directions to the gallery please click here, https://goo.gl/maps/zM1kMNdNnX82
I am putting the finishing touches on my new piece tentatively titled, “Calfee Park.” Last week in my newsletter I included a picture of this historic ball field that was shared on Facebook. I received such an overwhelming and positive response from that post that I have doubled up my efforts to complete this painting. I hope to release it before the Italy trip in September.
My latest work-in-progress of this piece that features Calfee Park in Pulaski, VA.
Our summer essay contest, This Great America Summer of Art, has come to a close. I have laughed, cried and been delighted while reading the essays that have been sent in. The hard part is next. Who will be the winner? My staff will sort it out and the winner of Barnstormer will be announced on Labor Day. Stay tuned.
Be kind to one another. Until next week.
Love,
