Dear Friends,

As this letter is going out all of our eyes are anxiously watching the storms approach our fellow Americans. North Carolina, South Carolina and Hawaii are all facing potentially catastrophic events. Let us all be ready to lend a helping hand to our neighbors when the time comes.

Country Spirit

Mathews Market Days, and the reunion with my friends there, made for a very special weekend for me. The festival was held on Friday and Saturday. Moss Galleries and the Moss Foundation had booths downtown. I visited with friends at the old courthouse square on Friday. Friday evening we all enjoyed a fabulous seafood dinner at a local favorite restaurant called Merroir. On Saturday I welcomed collectors at my distribution center on Poplar Grove Lane.

The unnamed Moss goose invited children to become royalty by making a crown. Over the course of the day, the goose acquired the name of King Louie.

Soon to be crowned princess concentrating on her crown making. The crowns were a big success and will be part of the October Fall Foliage Festival in Waynesboro, October 12-14, in conjunction with the Fall Barn Show and Gallery Open House. Look for the Foundation booth on West Main St. next to the Moss Gallery.

Becky is modelling her autumn themed crown. Lois Badey, Moss Foundation board member, was a huge help in the booth. Pictured in the back is the 2018 Raffle Quilt. Tickets for the quilt are $3 each or 2 for $5. Do you have yours yet? Please call the Foundation office to order your tickets today. 800-430-1320. The money raised from the raffle will benefit the P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship.

I had a great time with these lovely ladies from Georgia. They were visiting their friend and Mathews resident, Robin (in white shirt). We all became instant friends.

The Pulaski County High School and Floyd County High School art classes recently visited the Blacksburg Gallery. What a wonderful bunch of kids! I love how the gallery has reached out to our community and is helping with integration of art into schooling.

Pulaski County Schools. Don’t you just feel good being around so many smiling faces?

Floyd County High School also visited the gallery on their way to the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech.

Speaking of visitors at the gallery, I had the pleasure of meeting Keith Tisdale, the new president of the Williamsburg chapter of the VT Alumni Association. Welcome Keith!

I would like to share with you a new project that I am working on. Becky and I visited the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia. I did a little sketch of it which I will use to develop my new painting. I will post updates and photos here soon.
