Dear Friends,

Reunions are sweet and I was delighted to spend time with my Mathews friends, fellow  artist Gib Pulley (L) and Josie Thorpe, at the Mathews Historical Museum fundraising print release
.

September typically is a fantastic month to visit coastal Virginia, and last weekend was simply divine. Like having a welcome mat set out, blue skies and a slight breeze greeted me upon my arrival in Mathews County. I want to thank everyone who took the time to come to the museum. It was wonderful to reconnect, and more importantly to work together to support the museum in its quest to preserve the history of the county.

A steady progression of collectors, old friends and new friends kept me busy all day. We sold out of the trivets and my staff will be busy making more this week to fill orders. Did you miss out? It is not too late to purchase “The Light Shines On” trivet. You may order yours by contacting the Mathews Historical Museum at mathewsvamuseum@gmail.com, or by contacting my distribution center at 804-725-7378.

Dear friend and my former hair stylist, Deb Buchanan stopped by. She approved of my hairstyle and we both agreed that neither of us had changed a bit.

What a wonderful surprise to receive such a beautiful wreath created by Sandy Warhol! I love that it was made with dried okra and pomegranate.

In the upcoming months, I will be releasing 3 more prints and trivets through the museum. Stay tuned!

I would like to introduce you to Anna Strong, our newest P Buckley Moss Foundation Scholarship award winner. She is the recipient of a unique award created by the Moss Foundation Board that utilizes the residual funds from 7 the Harbison and Cary Scholarships, which are no longer offered. Anna will be attending St Francis University in Fort Wayne, Indiana and aspires to use her artistic abilities as a teacher. Anna, like me, has dyslexia. I want to share the letter she sent to the Foundation Board. I am thrilled that we can provide assistance to such a dynamic young woman, and look forward to seeing her progress and grow through her college education.

Anna Strong’s thank you letter is addressed to the Board, but really it is to all of us who have worked together to support educational opportunities for those who learn differently
