Dear Friends,

“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.” -Emily Bronte’

I marvel at the seasons changing, but especially so when it comes to Autumn. I am really looking forward to the Fall Barn Show and Gallery Open House that will be happening this coming weekend in Waynesboro, VA. The gallery and I will be releasing my new print, Autumn on the Farm. This painting is a visual compilation of the solitude and beauty that I find in country living. My inspiration for this work came from a farm in Woodstock, Vermont called Sleepy Hollow Farm.

Sleepy Hollow Farm, photo by Jeff Foliage (Folger), has been the subject of many photographers over the years wanting to capture the magic of the leaves turning.

My print, Autumn on the Farm, framed by Corrado. Isn’t it magnificent? Corrado will be at the gallery during the show to discuss framing options with you.

The Waynesboro show coincides with the annual Fall Foliage Festival held downtown on Main and Wayne. This annual festival brings together all the things and people that make this such a special place to live. The gallery is located at 329 W. Main St and will be in the heart of the festival. I will be there from noon to 4 pm on Sunday to meet with collectors and sign my work. On Friday and Saturday, from 11 am to 5 pm, I invite you to visit me at my Barn, 18 Providence Ln. The gallery will have directions there for you. There will be no shortage of things to see and do when you come to Waynesboro. The Moss Foundation will have a children’s booth set up near the gallery. This year they will be making crowns. I hope you’ll come and celebrate autumn with me and my family.

My trip to Berlin Creek Gallery last weekend was simply outstanding. My daughter Becky accompanied me and shared in the Amish hospitality that was showered upon us. Gallery owner, Nancy Tarzan has been a Moss dealer since 1986 and her shows have a “returning home” feel about them.

Nancy and I stop for a photo in front of the historic Zoar garden house. I recently painted this for a collector. Centrally located in the community and built in 1835, it is situated on approximately an acre of land that is planted in gardens of flowers and vegetables. I was fortunate this year to see the garden in its full fall splendor.

Over the years many of my collectors have become friends and part of the big Moss family. At this show I watched them help one another select prints and choose framing. It was heartwarming to see. Many of us stay together and have breakfast at the Miller Haus, a comfortable and welcoming Amish Bed and Breakfast.

We also released my new print, Winter’s Memories, shown here beautifully framed by Berlin Creek. Notice how they incorporated the Zoar star into the matting?

Here is the original meeting house at Zoar that was the inspiration for
Winter Memories. Pictured with me is Glen and Michele Garber. They purchased the original for this print and the original painting of the garden house.

My distribution center in Mathews welcomed Moss Society chapter Moss on the James on Saturday, October 6th. The group toured the production facility and watched demonstrations on print production and brooch making. Everyone brought a covered dish to share. I wish I could have been there.
