Dear Friends,

I hope everyone remembered to set their clocks back last weekend. With the cooler temperatures and the sun setting before 6 pm, I think winter may be knocking on our doors. This weekend I begin the second half of my fall tour. On Saturday, November 9th, you will find me in Winchester, VA at King James Galleries. The hours are 10 am until 3 pm. I have an exciting new print that we’ll be releasing together. It is titled, Christmas at the Taylor Hotel. This hotel has been part of the downtown Winchester landscape since the late 1840’s. It was built by Bushrod Taylor and opened its doors in 1848. In addition to providing lodging for travelers, the hotel was also a hub for mail and provided a stagecoach stop. During the 1860’s, General “Stonewall” Jackson used the building for his first headquarters. Afterwards, wounded soldiers were tended to there. Fast forward to the twentieth century, the Taylor Hotel served as home to a theatre, department store, and a telecom center. The building was vacated in 2004 and deteriorated quickly. Facing certain condemnation as unsafe, local citizens opened conversation of renovation vs. the loss of a historically significant building. With the sale of the building in 2011 to the Winchester Economic Development Authority, the restoration process began. Now the building is once again full of life and a vibrant member of the Loudoun Street Mall. The new Taylor Hotel has apartments, a restaurant, and it’s become a venue. I am looking forward to seeing it. I am also looking forward to seeing all of my Winchester area friends.

What a grand facade the Taylor Hotel presents. Especially of note, is the beautiful 3 floor porch. The building is located at 121 N Loudoun St, Winchester, VA 22601

The P. Buckley Moss Society was formed in 1987 by some zealous art collectors who wanted a group to share art appreciation and do charitable work. Local chapters then banded together in many communities. What a fantastic organization this has evolved into and I am so proud that it continues today. Friends that I have made through the Society have become my extended family. We have worked together, helped with children’s education, and travelled together. Recently, I had the pleasure and honor of attending the final meeting of the Three Rivers Moss Society Chapter, held in Pittsburgh. While endings may be sad, there was so much joy in our reunion dinner. Thank you Three Rivers Moss, you mean the world to me!

What a lovely dinner my family enjoyed with the members of 3 Rivers Moss Society Chapter. My sister-in-law, Carolyn is seated 5th from the left side, next to my daughter Becky
.

Dear friend Carol Megill, whose energy and caring have made such a difference.

I took a few minutes after dinner to sign some artwork. I hope it won’t be too long before we all meet again.

One of the best things about travelling and having art shows is all the people I meet, especially children. I got to spend time with some very special young people at my show with Gallery Art Center last weekend. The gallery was busy and the time passed so quickly. I was so grateful that the gallery had made arrangements for my daughter Becky and me to stay at the Timbrook Guesthouse. If you ever need a place to stay in Columbus, this is where you should go. Their motto says it all, “come as guests, leave as family.”

It’s no secret that I love children so I was fascinated when
Gallery owner Suzi Campbell’s grandson Grant shared his portfolio with me.

Look at the delight on young collector Joshua’s face as he shows off his new print, Kiss Me Kris. The print was a gift to him from the gallery.

. Joining me are Peter, Suzi, Brent Bailey and Steve Campbell.

Until next week,

Love,
