Dear Friends,

Hanover, Pennsylvania may never be the same. Our journey to Martin’s Gallery became so much more than just an open house. My daughter Becky and I arrived a day early. Their show was a highly anticipated event since we were also celebrating their 40th year in business. What I didn’t know was that it was also Les and Pat’s 48th wedding anniversary. All of this coincided with Veterans Day! It was a wonderful show and I can’t begin to express my happiness and delight to reconnect with so many friends. Our day began with the Lake Marburg Chapter of the P. Buckley Moss Society breakfast. Stories were exchanged and one story emerged that I have to share. Cathy Gorsuch, longtime Society member and friend, told me that my new print, Holiday Baking, was her granddaughter Elizabeth!  Cathy said ”Elizabeth just loves to bake, and she’s good at it.” I did the painting from a photo that I had saved from a few years ago that Cathy had given me. It was such fun to surprise her.

Hugs from a happy Cathy Gorsuch!

Holiday Baking. Junior Society member Elizabeth at home in the kitchen. Cathy thinks that they first started baking together when Elizabeth was 3 years old.

And the surprises continued when Pat Martin’s sister, Barbie Wagner popped in from Virginia on a welcome and unannounced visit!

As promised, an updated picture with the Martin family. Pictured L to R:  Adam Martin, his children Jaxon and Payton, Pat Martin, me, Les Martin and T.J. Martin.

Me with Pat and Les Martin. I called Les Our Soldier for the day since he had donned his medals in tribute to veterans. Les said it was also the birthday of V.M.I. So many things to celebrate in one day!

All of our lives have been impacted by veterans. Just think, where would we all be without our men and women in the armed service of this country? Thank you to all who have served and who are currently serving.

Recently this picture surfaced of my brother Dan Buckley in his USMC uniform right before he departed for duty in Japan. Pictured with him, our parents, Elizabeth and Vincent Buckley.

Up Against the Wall Gallery in Kingsport, Tennessee will be my next stop on my fall tour. Owners Mike and Lisa Ann Milhorn have been Moss dealers since 1981. I hope you’ll join us for this special event. I will be bringing new originals with me.

The Up Against the Wall Gallery open house is being held Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th. Together we will be releasing 2 new prints of mine. The Gazebo at Allandale and The Heron Dome were prints conceived from features of the Allandale Mansion of Kingsport. Allandale Mansion, known as “The White House of Kingsport” is maintained and owned by the city. The mansion was built around 1949 by the owner Harvey Brooks and his wife. The name was derived from 2 sources; from Allan, a reference to Roan Allan F-38 [a leading Tennessee Walking horse], and the old English word dale, meaning peaceful valley. Upon his death in 1969, Mr. Brooks left the property to the city of Kingsport. The will specified that the house must be maintained in the same manner as when its former owners were alive and be devoted to public use for the citizens of the area. It has become an exciting part of Kingsport’s social scene.

Many thanks to our wonderful Moss society members from the Italy trip who generated a $5000 donation to the Moss Foundation. Our children need our support and I appreciate everyone joining me in this effort.

I would like to wish everyone a peaceful Thanksgiving.

Here’s a special Thanksgiving poem.

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
because it means you’ve made a difference.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.
