Dear Friends,

 Happy Thanksgiving to you.

This is a wonderful time to slow down and reset our compasses. I am grateful to be spending the day with my family in Blacksburg, Virginia. I never know who will show up at my door and that makes for a very festive day. Last week I gave you a baking challenge. Were you successful?

Following my Thanksgiving dinner I will be off to my bay home in Mathews, VA. On Friday, November 26th we will be opening the doors of my distribution center for the annual 3 day Made in Mathews Open Studio Tour. This special event is celebrating its 20th year in 2021. As many of you know, Mathews was my full time residence from the early 1990’s until 2014. What a wonderful community to be a part of and have my business operations center located in. I am excited to see my friends and as always, make some new ones.

My hours for this show are as follows:

Friday, November 26 from 10 am – 5 pm;

Saturday, November 27 from 10 am- 5pm;

Sunday, November 28 from noon – 4 pm.

 The address is 74 Poplar Grove Lane, Mathews, VA 23109.

 My distribution center provides the “pulse” for my galleries, and a home for the Moss Foundation and the Moss Society. Print production is done there and porcelain products are fired in the kiln. During your visit, you are invited to browse the extensive inventory and tour the facility. The Made in Mathews Open Studio Tour has a website where you can learn more about this event. Here is the link.

My love and thanks to Mike and Lisa Milhorn for hosting another tremendous open house at Up Against the Wall Gallery in Kingsport last Saturday. My time there sped by and all too soon the show was over. I did manage to get a few photos taken.

 Recipe for a great show includes a mixture of friends old and new, and a delicious bowl of chili. Thank you Mike and Lisa.

I have always treasured the holiday season, mostly because it is family time for me, but also because I love the pageantry and decorations. Every year I look forward to seeing my Christmas tree in Waynesboro. My daughter Ginny carefully selects a tree and coordinates with a local school to have the children decorate it. For this year’s Winter Barn Show and Gallery Open House, the tree is being adorned with ornaments made by the students of the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton. I have had to wait a year to see their work since our 2020 tree celebration was cancelled.

 I found myself struggling to find the right words to describe this tree. It is so elegant and majestic. The decorations were a gift from the students of the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind.

For my Winter Barn Show and Gallery Open House in Waynesboro, December 3rd through the 5th, I have a new print to share with you. Having lived on the water for so many years, I became enthralled with the stoic beauty of shorebirds. From a wealth of memories I created Calm Repose featuring a solitary great egret. The Moss Gallery of Waynesboro will be releasing this print on Friday, December 3rd. They are taking pre-orders for it now, framed or unframed.

 Calm Repose is available in 2 sizes. Sm: IS: 9-7/8 x 15 ins.  $125 (unframed)

Med.: IS: 22-3/8 x 34 ins.  $700 (unframed). Edition 500 with 25 AP’s. In this photo, you can see that my son-in-law Corrado has accentuated my work nicely with his choice of subtle mat tones used in the framing.

Until next week,
