Dear Friends,

Over the years my Thanksgiving Day family has changed but the ingredients for a marvelous day are still the same! Here’s the recipe, take one part family, add one part friends (new and old), mix together gently with laughter and food, then top it with love and you have a day to remember.

Surrounded by family and friends, my Thanksgiving was a joyful occasion. In place of Mom’s peach tarts Becky made Tiramisu. It was to die for!

The Friday after Thanksgiving Becky and I headed to Kingsport, TN for a gallery open house at Up Against the Wall Gallery. What treats were in store for us as the day unfolded! I always look forward to visiting Mike and Lisa Ann’s gallery. This is where I usually find my Christmas present. This year I didn’t have time to look because we had so many delightful visitors!

Festive collectors waited patiently in line to see me. I am thankful for all of you.

Happy Holidays from the staff at Up Against the Wall Gallery.

As good fortune would have it, the tradition of me finding my Christmas present in Kingsport would prevail. Travis and Sheila Christian gave me a quilt. Author Jennifer Chiaverini says, “Anyone who works on a quilt, who devotes the time, energy, creativity, and passion to the art, learns to value the work of their hands. And as any quilter will tell you, a quilter’s quilting friends are some of the dearest, most generous, and supportive people they know.” I was thrilled to receive such a heart-felt gift.

Just look at my Christmas present! Thank you, Sheila and Travis Christian.

Collector Tina Jeter stopped by to show me a quilt that she had made. It is gorgeous! Its composition incorporates nine of my counted cross stitch patterns. I almost cannot comprehend the magnitude of time involved in the construction of this extraordinary quilt.

Right after the show we headed down to local television station WCYB for an interview. The spot was centered around my new prints, The Heron Dome and the Gazebo at Allandale. These prints feature the local landmark, Allandale Mansion, known to many as the White House of Kingsport. My first show in Kingsport was held at this magnificent mansion.

While we were at the television station I had the pleasure of meeting Ron Short of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He had come to the station and was scheduled to follow me.  Ron was carrying a banjo which piqued my interest. He told me that the instrument had been constructed in Africa and cheerfully demonstrated its capabilities.

Ron was travelling with Fellow musician Travis Lee Kern. We were instant friends!

Here Ron and I are in deep discussion over a violin. This is an instrument that I have always wanted to play. We ended up doing a trade and I went home with a violin.

To complete my musical encounter I was serenaded on Facebook by Mile Milhorn with Ron Short. I think everyone is this area must be a musician.

Next weekend I will be home in Waynesboro for the Winter Barn Show and Gallery Open House. The festivities start at my home Friday, Dec 1st. I always look forward to seeing my Christmas tree. This year under the direction of teacher Margaret Morris, William Perry Elementary School of Waynesboro decorated it. The children and their parents are to be my guests for a Christmas tree celebration prior to the opening of the Barn show on Saturday.

The beautiful Waynesboro Gallery, located at 329 W. Main St. in downtown Waynesboro, will be releasing two new prints. One is a winter themed, valley style piece, titled Winter Memories. The other print is titled, The Nutcracker-Prince of Dreams. This print is the second in a series of Nutcracker story themed prints.

Winter Memories.
The Waynesboro Gallery is well stocked and has a number of these beautifully framed and ready for your wall.

In the spirit of the season of giving, the Waynesboro Gallery is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of either of the Nutcracker prints to Old Dominion Performing Arts Studio. This donation applies to sales between December 1 and December 4, 2017. ODPAS is located in downtown Waynesboro and provides the opportunity for anyone age 2 and up to explore and enrichen their life through the discipline of dance.  For more information: http://www.performods.org/

The drawing for the “Mother and Child” quilt, done by Robin Jones, will be held at the Waynesboro Gallery on Sunday December 3. Have you gotten your tickets yet? They are still available. You may purchase them from the Foundation office until Friday Dec 1st, (800-430-1320) or at the Barn Show, right up until the drawing. Thank you to everyone who has supported this fundraiser for education.

Love,
