Dear Friends,

It’s not too often that you get to have 2 Thanksgiving celebrations. Pictured with me here are my “Grands” and friends who gathered in Blacksburg on Thanksgiving Day.

What magic unfolded with the Made in Mathews Open Studio Tour last weekend! My staff and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my distribution and production facility with you.

Quite some time has passed since Barbara Doniel and my paths have crossed. She came down from Leesburg with her daughter Temple. Like me, she is in her 80’s and still working. Perhaps we have discovered the secret to longevity?

My neighbor and dear friend Carl Ellis stopped by to adorn my head with a hat properly identifying me as “artist” rather than painter. We had a good laugh.

Rudy and Hugh always brighten my day when they visit, not to mention the wonderful chocolate they bring

Ready, set, go! This Friday, December 3rd is the opening day of my annual Winter Barn Show and Gallery Open House with the P Buckley Moss Gallery of Waynesboro. This show is a favorite of mine because we officially welcome the holiday season. The gallery and I will be releasing a new print titled, Calm Repose. Inspired by my life on the water, this print incorporates elements from numerous locations. My son-in-law Corrado has a number of these framed and ready for your home.

My beautiful tree will be the first to greet you upon your arrival to the gallery. The ornaments this year were made for me by the students at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. They are quite extraordinary!

Calm Repose, shown here in one of the framing options available from the P Buckley Moss Gallery of Waynesboro. Calm Repose, unframed, is available in 2 sizes; Small: IS: 9-7/8 x 15 ins.  $125, and Medium: IS: 22-3/8 x 34 ins. $700. Edition size is 500 with 25 artist proofs.

A favorite quote of mine comes from Leonardo da Vinci who said, “Art is never finished, only abandoned.” As art is my means of communicating, I am finding that I have more to say. Through my remarques, I have been adding details and content to published prints. For this show, I have created remarques of Calm Repose, but I also was compelled to revisit a 2020 print, Pure Prowess.

In this photo, you can see the evolution of a remarque. For every addition, I make a careful evaluation so that what is done ensures an accurate representation
. This is best explained by looking at the changes that were made with regard to the trees foliage. This necessitated the addition of leaf shadows. What other changes do you see?

The addition of holiday bows and holly transformed my playful Pure Prowess into a holiday favorite. Further enhancing the charm of this remarque is the festive framing. For information on remarques and custom framing, contact the gallery by calling 540-949-6473, or messaging through Facebook at

During your visit to the Waynesboro Gallery don’t forget to look for the lovely gift basket that is being raffled. You will receive one entry for each $50 purchase. The drawing will be held on Sunday, December 5th and you need not be present to win. Additionally the year-long raffle for the beautiful 2021 Moss Foundation Quilt will come to a close on Sunday. Tickets for this raffle are still available through the P Buckley Moss Gallery of Waynesboro up until the drawing on December 5th. I will have the honor of meeting our generous quilter, Nancy Gore. She and her husband David are coming from Ohio for the show and drawing.
