Dear Friends:
It’s work, work, work time for me, but it’s wonderful to be back to work. My friend Mary Wyatt Allen got me lots of books on tape, and I’m in heaven! As many of you know, I listen to books on tape while I paint.
Over the weekend I had a couple breaks from my easel. On Saturday I gave a tour of my home to Paulette Novakovich and some of her family and friends. Paulette was the highest bidder for the tour, which the Finn Gallery and I donated as one of the prizes to raise funds for breast cancer during St. Petersburg’s Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk. On Sunday I hosted a meeting of the Moss Pelicans Chapter of the P. Buckley Moss Society.
Paulette Novakovich (front row in white t-shirt) was the highest bidder for a tour of my home. It was such fun getting to know her and her family and friends. The tour was a fundraising prize for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk that was held in St. Petersburg, FL.
The Moss Pelicans Chapter meeting included a Chinese New Year Luncheon, which was a potluck in celebration of the Year of the Rabbit. The luncheon was superb! During the meeting, Chapter President Bonnie-Lou Binnig was elected to serve another two years as president. She does such an excellent job. Adding to the fun, Bonnie-Lou has decided to pick two members per meeting to tell their life stories. It’s a program called “Know our Membership.” So, Sunday we got to hear the stories of Bonnie-Lou’s husband Dick Binnig and Debra Jackson, who is one of the two recipients of scholarships provided by the Chapter to attend the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education’s 2010 Creative Minds Conference. During the meeting, chapter members discussed raising funds to send one or more additional local teachers to this year’s Creative Minds Conference that will occur in the fall and also providing funds for materials for after school projects.
Moss Pelicans’ lovely Chinese New Year Luncheon. L. to R.: Marlyn De Waard, Joyce Wilson, Sharon Kennedy, Edda Howard (Chapter Vice President), Janet Todd, Gayle Morris, Bonnie-Lou Binnig (Chapter President), and Ginger Cloonan. Marlyn and Ginger are members of the Society’s Advisory Council and have recently joined the Moss Pelicans Chapter.
“The Story of Dick Binnig” by Dick Binnig, as told at the January meeting of the Moss Pelicans Chapter. I loved it!
The P. Buckley Moss Museum’s Director Corrado Gabellieri is visiting family in Italy and soaking up art history. I’m looking forward to hearing his stories when he returns.
Love,
Pat
