Dear Friends,
The P. Buckley Moss Society’s
next 20th Anniversary birthday bash is this weekend in Waynesboro, Virginia,
and I can hardly wait! We’re going to have so much fun, and I
hope lots of you will come and share in the excitement. Tickets are
still available, but you must purchase them in advance by calling the
Society office at 540-943-5678.
There will be silent
and live auctions with a wide variety of items to bid on, as well
as fabulous birthday bags that can be purchased for $20 each. Each bag
contains gift certificates and goodies worth at least $20, but only
one of them contains a coupon entitling the owner to a framed miniature
watercolor painted by me.
One of the birthday bags will contain a redemption certificate for this
miniature original watercolor by Pat. Framing donated by Beveled Edge,
Glen Allen, Virginia.
Among the items in the live auction will be three hand-painted
Easter eggs created by me, a quilted wall hanging for which I drew the
centerpiece on a fabric square, one of my used paintbrushes which has
been framed with a signed and numbered copy of Pat’s
Paint Brush, and many other items sure to inspire lively bidding.
Pat’s drawing of one of her signature “hungry baby birds”
is featured as the centerpiece of this quilted wall hanging, which measures
54” x 54” and was quilted by Ladye Buckner of Grayson, Georgia.
Among the items in the silent auction will be an opportunity
to name one of my new prints and receive a complimentary copy of it
and a wide selection of both Moss and non-Moss items.
This birdhouse and watering can are examples of some of the hand-decorated
items donated by Pat for the auctions.
Proceeds from the evening will benefit Ronald McDonald
Houses, the P. Buckley Moss
Foundation for Children’s Education , and the P. Buckley Moss
Endowed Scholarship.
I’ve been working on several paintings, and one that I can show
you now will be titled Thursday’s Child. It will be released
at the Greenbrier Valley Theatre in Lewisburg, West Virginia, August
9-10, during the premier of the play that was written about my life
by Greg Johnson. The play is also titled Thursday’s Child,
and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the print will benefit
the Theatre.
Thursday's Child will be released on August 9, 2007 at the premier
of the play about Pat in Lewisburg, WV. Kitten's Korner Gallery, (304)
536-9206 in White Sulphur Springs is coordinating sales of the print
at the opening.
I have to go put the finishing touches on some paintings
and pack for Waynesboro and the birthday party…’til next
week.
Love,
Pat
In sad irony, the son-in-law of one of our authorized Moss dealers was
killed in Iraq on Memorial Day while serving our country. Chief Warrant
Officer 2 Theodore “Tuc” Church was the husband of Mindi
and father of Dorian and Maryn. Mindi’s mother Marcinda Mers is
the manager of Designer Art and Framing in Russell, Kentucky. We mourn
the loss of one of our nation’s finest and pray for his family.
