Dear Friends:
Greetings from Cortona, Italy! It’s wonderful to be back in Tuscany.
The weather is beautiful, and the scenery and the slower pace of life
are so relaxing. I’m getting settled in and will start etching
soon with my daughter Becky.
It was such fun to have the Society’s second 20th Anniversary
“birthday party” at my Museum
in Waynesboro, Virginia, last Friday. It was a formal, black-tie optional
affair, and it was great to see the men all dressed up in their black
ties and the women in their lovely dresses. Even I wore a dress—for
the first time in about nine years! The South River Grill provided the
catering, and the hors d’oeuvres were sinfully good!
Bidders eagerly awaited the live auction.
I got to see old friends and new friends, and everyone
had a great time competing for auction items and the highly prized birthday
gift bags. Proceeds from the party will benefit Ronald McDonald Houses,
the P. Buckley Moss Foundation
for Children’s Education, and the P. Buckley Moss Endowed
Scholarship.
Pat was delighted to see long-time friends David and Joan Berenson.
Pat’s print Mount
Pleasant depicts the Berenson’s historic home by the same
name.
Pat’s attorney Dick Wall and his wife Carol came from Roanoke
to participate in the celebration.
Pat was very happy that her friend, long-time Society supporter,
and mentor of children Floyd Boothe of Richmond placed the winning bid
for the quilted wall hanging. Pat provided the centerpiece, and Ladye
Buckner of Grayson, GA, did the quilting.
Moss at Monticello Chapter member Terri Meeks and her husband Montie
of Free Union, VA, near Charlottesville, placed the winning bids for
a Winter Geese etching and a remarqued Country Blooms
print.
The Society’s third and final 20th Anniversary birthday
party will be held July 21 in conjunction with our Collectors’
Convention at the Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center in
Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Instead of being a formal event, the theme
will be Country Western, so get your cowboy and cowgirl outfits ready!
One of the auction items in Lancaster will be the new hybrid daylily
developed by Stuart and Diane Kendig of Perfect Perennials in York,
Pennsylvania, which they named after me. Lilies are one of my favorite
kinds of flower, so I was very honored last year when Stuart and Diane
wanted to name one of their beautiful flowers after me. I’m very
excited that one of them will be included in the auction.
One of the items up for auction in Lancaster, PA, July 21 will be
a gorgeous P. Buckley Moss Daylily. If you would like to see a living
example of Pat’s special flower, there are three blooming in the
garden at Pat’s Museum right now.
I’ll return from Italy just in time for my Museum
Open House and Barn Show July 13-15, when I’ll release my
new print Picnic at the Mill, featuring the Silver
Lake Mill in Dayton, Virginia, one of my favorite subjects.
Picnic at the Mill will be released during Pat's visit at the Museum
and Barn on July 13-15. For more information contact the Museum at (800)
343-8643.
Ciao!
Love,
Pat
