Dear Friends:
This past Friday I attended the First Women of Tampa Bay Luncheon at the Sheraton Tampa River Walk Hotel that was hosted by the Florida Federation of Business and Women’s Clubs, Inc., in honor of women, past and present, in the greater Tampa Bay area who have been the first women in careers traditionally held by their male counterparts and women who were first in serving their community. I am so honored to be included among such a distinguished list of women, including doctors, nurses, lawyers, CEO’s, state legislators, West Point graduates, and more. I was included as the first recipient of the Pinnacle Award from the International Dyslexia Association. Please know that I accept these honors on behalf of all of you who do such great work for others.
The First Women of Tampa Bay!
Another gorgeous quilt has arrived at the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education’s office. This one was made by Michelle Perkins of Barboursville, Virginia, and she is a member of the Shenandoah Valley Quilters’ Guild. The quilt will be either raffled or auctioned during a future fundraising even to benefit the Foundation.
Michelle Perkins of the Shenandoah Valley Quilters’ Guild made this exquisite quilt around one of my hand-painted centerpieces to benefit the Foundation for Children’s Education. Many thanks, Michelle!
…and another gorgeous quilt has arrived for the Foundation in care of P. Buckley Moss Galleries, Ltd.! See below.
Jeannine McNeill of Topton, NC, (left) pieced this stunning quilt to benefit the Foundation, and Linda Gorman of Blairsville, GA, (right) did the fabulous stitching. Thank you both so very much!
The kind generosity of the women who volunteer their time, talent, and materials to make these quilts for charity is so heart-warming! All the proceeds from the quilts helps support the programs of the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education. In some cases, the proceeds are divided between the Foundation and another deserving charity. If you or someone you know would be interested in creating a quilt around one of my centerpieces for charity, please get in touch with my assistant Tricia Miles at 1-800-430-1320 or triciamiles@pbuckleymoss.com, and she will send you pictures of centerpieces that are currently available.
This past March, I gave a talk at St. Petersburg (Florida) College, and last week I had the pleasure of a visit by a student and Ms. Bobbi Cullinan, Administrative Specialist to Acting Director, Learning Resources. I would like to share with you a message P. Buckley Moss Galleries, Ltd., received from Bobbi after their visit and add that the enjoyment was mutual. I find high school and college students to be very inspirational; it’s wonderful to see their excitement and enthusiasm. Bobbi’s message was sent to my assistant Tricia Miles in Mathews, Virginia, and mentions Finn Gallery owner Tim Finn here in St. Pete. Both Tricia and Tim worked with Bobbi to coordinate my visit to the college and their recent visit to my studio.
I wanted to send a quick note to you; on Monday, June 11, 2012, Tim Finn [owner of the Finn Gallery] arranged for a student who is headed to a college in Maine in the fall to meet with P. Buckley Moss; the day was exceptional for the student (and me) to spend one-on-one time with Ms. Moss. On the way back to campus Jane (the student) went on an on about being able to talk directly with Ms. Moss and having had her undivided attention. Ms. Moss really “reached” Jane with her wisdom and insightfulness on Life. Jane is in awe over the lessons of life Ms. Moss has learned and shared; on the way back to campus, Jane was embracing the fact to stop procrastinating, love what you do and “…don’t date until you are 30.”
I look at all my P. Buckley Moss prints now with a new appreciation for everything you did, Tim Finn and Ms. Moss’ acceptance in making time for the students at St. Petersburg College.
On a side note: when we toured Ms. Moss’ studio she took us out on the balcony and there was a print she had forgotten to take inside. Imagine, an original P. Buckley Moss left outside! Just an event that made me smile and a memory I get to treasure.
The people “behind” P. Buckley Moss are wonderful!
One day I have the intention on meeting you face to-Face.

’Til next week…
Love,
Pat
