Dear Moss Friends:
Pat is having a wonderful time with her children and grandchildren on
a Disney Cruise. She will return just in time for her Barn
Show and Museum Open House this weekend in Waynesboro, Virginia.
Pat and four of her six children share a relaxing moment on their
Disney Cruise. Clockwise from top: Becky, Chris, Ginny, Mary, and Pat.
After the Barn Show, Pat will be headed to one of her
favorite places, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she will host the P.
Buckley Moss Collectors’ Convention July 20-21. Pat is looking
forward to seeing her Pennsylvania friends and celebrating the P. Buckley
Moss Society’s third
20th Anniversary Birthday Party during the Saturday evening Dinner/Dance.
It’s a Country Western theme, and Pat is working on her cowgirl
outfit! Get your tickets now by calling the Society office at 540-943-5678.
Pat has created two very special prints for the Convention. The large
Convention print is a depiction of Philadelphia’s historic Independence
Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution
were signed by the founding fathers of our country, and its bell tower
steeple was the original home of the “Liberty Bell.” Pat
has said of this painting, “I spent hours listening to books on
tape and painting the countless bricks, but I feel the end result is
worth every minute I worked on it. In addition to the history of the
building, I’ve always been fascinated by the balance and proportion
of its Georgian architecture.”
The edition size of Independence Hall will be determined
by the number of orders received by July 22nd. Place
your order now or through your
local gallery.
For the small Convention print, Pat has created an idyllic
schoolyard scene, typical of Mennonite and Amish one-roomed schools,
to honor not only the Plain People but also the innocence of all children.
Of this piece Pat said, “I remember a day when I was invited to
an Amish schoolroom in Pennsylvania. I drew a portrait of each child
in the school, and I remember their sweetness when I gave each one of
them their portrait. I hope that Happy Days will inspire warm memories
of simpler times and a desire to help children achieve their full potential.”
Happy Days is available to all who attend the Pennslyvania convention,
July 20-21, for $60. After the convention it will retail for $100.
Being on the Disney Cruise this week has reminded Pat
of next year’s
Society RiverBarge Trip on the Ohio River. RiverBarge Excursions’
Rare on the River-Fall Foliage and Fillies tour is round trip through
Cincinnati, Ohio, October 16-23, 2008. Join Pat and fellow Society members
