It was a wonderful weekend, meeting alumni, faculty, and friends of Virginia Military Institute (VMI) at my Museum Open House and Barn Show. We released my newest VMI print, Carrying Honor Forward, which proved to be a hit. If anyone would like to have one of the prints personalized with a cadet’s name and graduating class, please contact the P. Buckley Moss Museum at 1-800-343-8643 or 540-949-6473, and I’ll be happy to do it.
There were lots of new, friendly faces at the show this past weekend, and a number of them were interested in next year’s 12-day group tour of the Mediterranean, starting on July 23, 2013. We’ll start in Rome and stop at Naples, Italy (Pompeii and Capri); Santorini, Greece; Kusadasi, Turkey (Ephesus); Mykonos, Greece; Athens, Greece (Piraeus); Katakolon (Olympia), Greece; Corfu, Greece; and Dubrovnik, Croatia, ending in Venice, Italy.
Staterooms start at $2,497.00 per person, based on double occupancy, and the price includes taxes and round trip transfers but does not include airfare or any pre or post cruise accommodations or tours. A deposit is due by October 5, 2012, to guarantee group rate and group amenities, with the remaining balance due by March 1, 2013. Everyone loved the Foundation’s quilt display at the Museum this past weekend, and it will stay up through my October 12-14 Museum Open House and Barn Show. The quilts were all made by volunteers, featuring one of my hand-painted centerpieces, and donated to the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education to help raise funds for its programs. The quilts will be auctioned or raffled during future fundraising events; but, for a donation of at least $2,000 to the Foundation, interested collectors will be able to obtain one of the quilts pictured below.
This particular quilt is the subject of a year-long raffle at the P. Buckley Moss Museum to benefit the Foundation. To purchase raffle tickets, please contact the Museum at 1-800-343-8643 or 540-949-6473.
This weekend I’ll be in Riverside, Iowa, for my Collectors’ Convention at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort. If you haven’t purchased your attendee tickets yet, they will be available at the door; however, please call P. Buckley Moss Galleries, Ltd., at 1-800-430-1320 if you are interested in Dinner Dance tickets or Friday Tour & Luncheon tickets, as availability of those is limited.
Next week I’m heading off to Alaska for our group land tour and cruise of the Alaskan Coast. I can hardly wait! I’ve never been to Alaska, and I just know it’s going to be beautiful! When I return from the trip, it will be time to head to Waynesboro, Virginia, for our annual summer Dealers’ Meeting, August 10-12. This is an opportunity for authorized Moss dealers and our staff to meet in a relaxed, informal setting to learn about new products and exchange ideas.
On Thursday, August 9, I will be giving a talk and unveiling a new print edition at Sunnyside Retirement Community in Harrisonburg. My talk will start at 2:00 p.m., followed by the unveiling of my new print edition to help raise funds for Sunnyside. The prints will be available for sale, and I will be happy to sign them. Space is limited, so if you would like to attend this event, please RSVP to 540-568-8411 by August 3.
From Humble Beginnings to a Century of Caring celebrates Sunnyside Retirement Community’s 100th Anniversary this year. For more information, please call 540-568-8411.
My mother, known affectionately as “Gran Liz”, was a resident at Summit Square in Waynesboro, which is part of Sunnyside Retirement Community, at the end of her life. Her assisted living apartment allowed her to maintain her independence, and she made many new friends. When she needed more care, it was available at that same location, and she was able to comfortably make that transition. I am most grateful for the wonderful care she received there.
That’s all for now—I have to get ready for Iowa!
