Dear Friends:
We had another exciting weekend, this time in Blacksburg, Virginia. The weekend started early when I got to speak last Thursday to members of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce when they visited our Blacksburg gallery as part of their Leadership Workshop. The rest of the weekend was filled with Virginia Tech’s Women’s Weekend, the Blacksburg Farmers’ Market, and a visit by members of the Moss in the Forest Chapter of the P. Buckley Moss Society!

What a wonderful group of women and what a delight to be with them in Blacksburg! My daughter Becky and I attended the opening reception for Virginia Tech’s Women’s Weekend on Friday evening. Saturday, I participated in a panel discussion on “Virginia Tech Women Making an Impact”. Other panelists included Desiree Reed-Francois, Executive Associate Athletics Director; Karen Eley Sanders, Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs; and Laura P. Sands, Professor, Center for Gerontology. The moderator was Rachel Holloway, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs. Later that evening, we attended dinner on the stage of the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre in the Street and Davis Performance Hall at the Moss Arts Center.
This picture of mothers and daughters was taken at the opening reception for Virginia Tech’s Women’s Weekend. L. to R.: Lou Merryman, Pat Merryman, Anita Bost, Frances Keyser, my daughter Becky Ghezzi, me, Sharon Quillen, Hunter Gresham, Rachelle Walker, and Debbie Petrine.
Pictured with me is Nikki Giovanni, a University Distinguished Professor, who presented a session titled “Poetry is a Window to Discovery”. Nikki is also a famous poet, and I so enjoyed meeting her.
In addition to participating in the panel discussion and attending the dinner at Tech on Saturday, my daughter Becky and I judged the “Art at the Market” art show at the Blacksburg Farmers’ Market and members of the Moss in the Forest Chapter of the P. Buckley Moss Society came for a visit. The Moss in the Forest members were able to tour the Moss Arts Center and attend the panel discussion. They also visited my house on the lake, and Becky gave them an etching demonstration.

On Sunday, we attended a brunch at the home of Virginia Tech President Dr. Timothy D. Sands and his wife Dr. Laura Sands.
This picture was taken the day after Virginia Tech’s graduation ceremony in May. Gregory Smith and his family came to our gallery, and one of his graduation presents was a personalized Hokie Land.
It was a great weekend, and now I’m turning my attention to our Dealers’ Meeting weekend that will be held in Waynesboro August 7-9. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to get together with our authorized dealers and exchange ideas and information. Our special guest speaker will be Maria Bereket, who will give a talk on marketing and social media.
Love,
