Dear Friends,
I have just returned from a tremendous weekend spent with members of
the Moss Society who were attending
their annual chapter training conference in Charlottesville. I am exhausted
but greatly enthused by all that took place.
The Incredible Chapter Training Committee. Mary Lou McMillin, Ginny
Myers, Susan
Roberts, Deb Weisgerber, Peggy Goodwin, Gale Fixmer, Lance Allen and
Fred McMillin.
Those of you who are members of the Society, if you get the chance
to represent your chapter at next year's meeting grab it. You will have
a ball and at the same time learn a great deal about how to run a successful
chapter that both helps its community and has fun.
Tea for You in 2002.
The weekend started with a tea party, the ladies wearing hats and gloves,
the tables decorated with skill and imagination by the chapters and
Malcolm showing us the correct way to brew tea. "Never take the
kettle to the tea pot. Always bring the pot to the kettle."
Saturday's presentations and discussion groups showed me how professional
our Society has become with its fifteen years of fund raising for children's
charities. By the time evening came everyone was in a party mood and
we celebrated at my barn home while drawing raffle tickets for prizes
donated by each chapter. The raffle raised over $1200 for the P.
Buckley Moss Foundation for Children's Education.
Hey I could go on about the weekend for the rest of this page and more
but not all of you are Society members and so I will end this piece
by just saying a "Thank you , Thank you, Thank you, Mary Lou McMillin
and your incredibly efficient and dedicated committee."
Jake's Elizabeth and Caroline with Grandparents EJ and Tish Mansmann
and Grandad
Malcolm with Pat. The occasion was dinner at the Mansmann's house in
Mathews.
Before leaving for Chapter Training, Malcolm and I were dinner guests
of Jake's parents-in-law, Tish and EJ Mansmann. EJ has a magnificent
collection of tea pots and we did some photographing for Malcolm's lecture
on tea making. We also took the opportunity to get a photo of the four
of us and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Caroline.
Love,
Pat
