Dear Friends:
The new Memorial Walkway and patio at The Barn in Waynesboro, Virginia, is lovely, and I’m so looking forward to everyone seeing it. It makes a wonderful area for P. Buckley Moss Society functions and a new home for our Una Ballerina statue that we affectionately call “Theresa Thunder Thighs”. “Theresa” has traveled from Venice, Italy, to Florida; from Florida to the Museum grounds in Waynesboro; and from the Museum to the new Memorial Walkway and patio area at The Barn. The bricks have been placed, and it makes such a lovely spot. Everyone will have a chance to see it during my October 10-12 Barn Show, which will coincide with the grand opening of our new downtown gallery at 329 West Main Street in Waynesboro. The grand opening will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 10. Collectors are invited to join us Friday, October 10, through Sunday, October 12, for refreshments and a tour of the gallery. After the ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning, I’ll head over to The Barn to meet collectors and sign their prints throughout the weekend (11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday-Sunday). The gallery is due to open by or before September 2.
Putting the finishing touches on our new gallery building.
“Theresa Thunder Thighs” experienced a brief I’ve-fallen-and-I-can’t-get-up moment as she was moved from the Museum grounds to her new home at The Barn, where she now graces the new Memorial Walkway area.
The new Memorial Walkway as a work in progress.
Last week I hosted a luncheon for the local P.E.O. chapter at my home in Radford, Virginia. My daughter Mary, granddaughter Sarah, and I are members. P.E.O. is a women’s organization that raises money for various projects that promote and/or support women’s education and continuing education. The organization sponsors various scholarships for women seeking higher education. Thirty-four P.E.O. members, three guests, my daughters Mary and Becky, and I enjoyed a wonderful buffet lunch on my deck, and I gave a talk about my life, family, and art. The P.E.O. chapter also conducted a business meeting. I was very interested to hear about the work of others who also promote education.
What fun to have so many smart, caring women gather at my home.
I’m looking forward to seeing all my friends in the Springfield, Ohio, area this weekend when I’m there for my show with The Frame Haven. Gallery owners Don and Audrey McKanna and I will release a new giclée on paper titled Summer at the Mansion, featuring the historic Bushnell Mansion, which currently serves as the Richards, Raff, & Dunbar Memorial Home.
Summer at the Mansion will be released during my show with The Frame Haven in Springfield, OH, August 22-23. For more information, please contact the gallery at 937-323-9088.
The P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education will host a fundraising dinner in conjunction with my show with The Village Shoppe in Kalona, Iowa, on October 4.
