Dear Friends:

My thoughts and prayers are with those living along the Gulf Coast who are facing the threat of Hurricane Isaac this week.  These storms are so dangerous and frightening!

My grandson Picco and some of his friends from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, spent last weekend at my house in St. Petersburg (a mini vacation for them).  Their school was evacuated in advance of the approaching storm, but they have all gone back now.  I’m sure my house is still in one piece—not a worry in my mind with kids in my house without adult supervision!

I’ve been working in my Mathews, Virginia, home and recently finished a painting of The Lee House at Washington and Lee University.  After the War Between the States ended in 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee became the president of what was then known as Washington College.  The Lee House was built to house General Lee and his family, and a brick stable was attached off a back corner for Lee’s famous horse Traveller.  General Lee served as the college’s president until he passed away in 1870, and Washington College was soon renamed Washington and Lee University.  The home has housed the presidents of the university ever since.

Traveller’s Welcome features The Lee House at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.  The stable doors are traditionally kept open, awaiting Traveller’s return.  The print will be released during Frame and Design’s Show Without Moss September 14-15.  For more information, please contact the gallery at 540-463-1855.

I just returned from Alaska, and it’s already time to make reservations for next year’s trip.  Our 12-day group tour of the Mediterranean is going to be a celebratory trip, and I’m taking my whole family.  There are many friends joining us, some from the last cruise and some who had already been to Alaska.  All are welcome!  We will be taking the Ruby Princess from Rome on July 23, 2013, and ending in Venice on August 4.  We will stop at Naples, Italy (Pompeii and Capri); Santorini, Greece; Kusadasi, Turkey (Ephesus); Mykonos, Greece; Athens, Greece (Piraeus); Katakolon (Olympia), Greece; Corfu, Greece; and Dubrovnik, Croatia, ending with two nights in Venice, Italy.

A deposit is due by October 5, 2012, to guarantee group rate and group amenities, with the remaining balance due by March 1, 2013.  For more information, please click on this link, or contact Ada at Stacy’s Travel, 734-243-6330.

Happy Labor Day!

Love,
Pat

Please say a prayer for my dear friend Ginger Cloonan, who suffered a fall after her release from the hospital for an unrelated procedure.  I am praying she recovers quickly from this setback.  Ginger is a past member of the P. Buckley Moss Society Board of Directors and was the owner of The Country Framer gallery, representing my work in Libertyville, Illinois, for many years.
