Dear Friends:

I spent a wonderful Labor Day weekend, full of family, friends, and fun.  Randy and Ginny Myers, dear friends from Ohio, spent the weekend with me, and we celebrated Ginny’s birthday.  We went to the Virginia Tech/Ohio State game Monday evening, and Randy and Ginny sat in the Ohio section across from us.  My son Chris explained a lot about football to me, and I think I understand more now.  This was my second game, and I even stayed for the whole thing!  I especially enjoyed the performances of the cadets and the bands.  Even though our team lost, it was still a spectacular experience.

My daughter Mary, left, making the VT sign, while Ginny Myers, right, attempts the “O” for OSU, as I look on, laughing.

Randy and me, enjoying the view from my deck.

Ready for the game!  Mary, me, Chris, and Becky, sporting our VT colors and making the VT sign.

Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium was packed Monday evening for our big game against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

This Thursday evening, I will have a signing event with the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and this weekend I’ll be showing with King James Galleries of Winchester.  On Saturday, September 12, the gallery and I will be showing and signing at the Hampshire Heritage Fest in Romney, West Virginia.  We will be releasing a special new print edition during the event called The Romney Trough.  The Trough is a six-mile long wooded gorge carved by the South Branch Potomac River, and the South Branch Valley Railroad runs through it.  The area was the site of a 1756 skirmish during the French and Indian War known as the “Battle of the Trough”.  On Sunday, September 13, I’ll be showing at the gallery in Winchester, Virginia.  We will also be releasing Front Royal’s Silent Night, which depicts Front Royal’s gazebo at Christmastime.

The Romney Trough, above, and Front Royal’s Silent Night, below, will be released during my show with King James Galleries of Winchester the weekend of September 12-13.  For more information, please contact the gallery at 540-869-9025.

Next Wednesday I’ll be heading off for a Quilt Camp at Sea Cruise to Alaska with my daughters Mary and Patty.  We’re going to have such fun!

Love,
