Hello Friends,
I visited our local high school this week to demonstrate how to make
and decorate a wooden nativity scene. I took with me a set of figures
I painted in Mathews, Virginia. The boys are going to cut out similar
figures and the girls will then decorate them in their own style.
The finished sets will be sold to tourists and the money used to buy
essentials for the school. The enthusiam of the students and the teachers
was great and we all had a good time. I think the project will work
well.

One of the paintings I have been working on here in Panama is the
view of the Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg. I painted the original
hotel several years back. Since then there have been several additions
to it. In my letter
of July 29th there was a photo showing me sketching the hotel.
The photo you see today is the progression of the painting. I still
have a way to go but I am very happy with how it is coming to life.
I will unveil the painting at my gallery
in St. Petersburg on November 15th and 16th.

I am halfway through this stay in Panama and I am comfortably on
schedule with the painting program. This Thursday, I will go with
Malcolm to the farm, so expect to see photos from there in my next
letter.
With love,
Pat
