Dear Friends:

What a beautiful weekend! The weather couldn't have been nicer for my Museum Open House and Barn Show. We all enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, which will be even more glorious in a few weeks. I wish I could get back to see all the different kinds of trees and the variety of colors they produce.

Our special print for the weekend was Colors of Fall, featuring Liberty Furnace in Shenandoah County. Pictured with me above are the owners of the property, L. to R.: Bobbie Loveland, Suzanne Artz Loveland (mother of Bobbie), me, and Emma Lou Clark Artz and Robert M. Artz (parents of Suzanne).

I'm very proud of my Museum staff. People who visited the Museum and then came to The Barn to have me sign their prints had such glowing comments about the staff and the docents. It's good to know that I'm well-represented.

My friend Floyd Boothe of Richmond, VA, was at the Museum selling raffle tickets for the Moss on the James Chapter of the P. Buckley Moss Society. The print being raffled is Colonial Summer, and proceeds from the raffle will benefit Riverside School in Richmond, VA. Riverside School specializes in teaching learning different children.

It was such fun to see two friends I made on last year's Quilt Camp at Sea's New England Cruise for a Cure (benefited the Breast Cancer Research Foundation). Phyllis Collins and Margaret Reitan came up from North Carolina, and I was delighted when Phyllis volunteered to make a quilt to benefit the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children's Education. I gave her a choice of two of my hand-painted fabric centerpieces to work with, and I can't wait to see what she creates.

The P. Buckley Moss Society's cookbook Recipes for Touching Lives is well on its way through production and is due to arrive on November 15 for subsequent distribution to your favorite Moss dealer. Preorders will be shipped to you the moment the cookbooks land on our loading dock. We received a couple of the cookbooks last week, and they are absolutely beautiful. The cookbook is 256 pages, hardbound, and full color and has a dust jacket. In addition to recipes, which are marvelous--I've sampled some of them, it features testimonials and stories by Society members as well as some of my artwork. The cookbook will make an excellent Christmas gift, and $1.00 from every cookbook purchased will be donated to the Foundation. Recipes for Touching Lives retails at $29.95 plus tax (Virginia) and shipping.

This weekend I'm off to Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Leesburg, Virginia, for shows with Martin's Gallery and Medlin Art, Ltd., respectively. Les and Pat Martin and Patrick and Shirley Medlin are old friends, and I'm looking forward to showing at both galleries.

Conewago Creek's Humpback Bridge will be released during my show with Martin's Gallery in Hanover, PA, on Friday, October 15. The limited edition giclée on paper features Johns Burnt Mill Bridge located between Hanover and New Oxford, PA, and celebrates the area's love of fall. The bridge was originally built in 1820 and reconstructed in 2005. For more information, please contact the gallery at 717-632-3355.

Our Capital City will be released during my show with Medlin Art, Ltd., in Leesburg, VA, on Saturday, October 16. The limited edition giclée on paper pays tribute to our Founding Fathers' vision of three separate branches of government. Clockwise from top, the Capitol represents the legislative branch, the Supreme Court represents the judicial branch, and the White House represents the executive branch. For more information, please contact the gallery at 703-771-8696.

See you soon!

Love,
Pat
