Dear Friends:
It was great fun to be with the women of the Sun City Center’s Woman’s Club this past Thursday. I was the guest speaker for their November general meeting, which was held at the Sun City Center Community Hall. Sun City Center is a beautiful place, and I very much enjoyed my visit and my talk. The women asked really good questions, and the food was outstanding.
My visit with the Sun City Center’s Woman’s Club.
My friend Jean Smith is the President of the Woman’s Club, and her husband Art is a past member of the P. Buckley Moss Society Board of Directors. I got to see their house before the meeting started, and it is absolutely gorgeous. They have an incredible living room with glass doors overlooking a screened-in swimming pool and a TV facing the pool. I’ll be happy to house-sit anytime!
Last week I met with Helen Levine, Vice Chancellor of the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg, to discuss the painting I’m going to do of the campus. It will be released next spring, and I’m looking forward to working on it. The campus is beautiful and offers great courses. I’ve also met with Professor Michael Francis, Professor of Florida History at the University, regarding another special painting I’m going to do to benefit the St. Petersburg Museum of History. This painting will be in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Florida by the Spanish.
My show with the Finn Gallery went very well; and, after Sunday’s show, I hosted the November meeting of the Moss Pelicans Chapter of the Society. During our meeting, we drew the winning raffle ticket for the quilt that chapter member Ruth Zilhaver and I made, featuring one of my fledgling paintings on the centerpiece. The winner was Ellen Wish of Northport, Florida, who purchased her raffle ticket during Finn Gallery’s show. The proceeds of the quilt raffle will be divided between the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education and a local charity.
Pictured with me are Ellen Wish, the lucky winner of the quilt raffle, and her husband.
P. Buckley Moss Galleries, Ltd., has received another wonderful quilt for our wonderful Foundation! It is so creative, and I am so excited about it! Thank you Jeannine McNeill and Linda Gorman!
This is the second quilt made for the Foundation by Jeannine McNeill (left) and Linda Gorman (right). I love it! You may not be able to tell from the picture, but the black spots on the background material are cat paw prints—adorable!
I’m currently working on the third and final painting for the series of prints and posters in celebration of the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion Festival. It will be released during my show with Up Against the Wall in Kingsport, Tennessee, on December 15.
My whole family will be together for Thanksgiving, with the exception of my daughter Becky and her family, my grandson Picco, and me. Becky and her family live in Italy and couldn’t make it over this year, and Picco attends the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Picco and I will be together, and we’ve been invited to share Thanksgiving with my friends Dick and Bonnie-Lou Binnig in Clearwater. I’m really looking forward to it. Dick and Bonnie-Lou are so sweet to be with and such fun, and I know they will enjoy talking to Picco. Bonnie-Lou is the President of the Moss Pelicans Chapter.
I’ll return to Virginia in time for my November 30-December 2 Museum and Barn Open House. The Christmas tree at The Barn this year will feature ornaments made by the students of Westwood Elementary School. At 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, we are going to have a tree lighting ceremony for the students, their parents, and teachers. I can’t wait to see the joy and excitement on their faces.
My special print for the November 30-December 2 Museum and Barn Open House is Christmas at the Barn, which captures the Christmas spirit at my Barn home in Waynesboro, VA. For more information, please contact the P. Buckley Moss Museum at 1-800-343-8643 or 540-949-6473.
That Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the P. Buckley Moss Museum, we’ll have a Dinner Dance to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the P. Buckley Moss Society. Tickets are $45, and attendees will receive a complimentary black and white print. There will be live and silent auctions to benefit the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education. For more information, please call 1-800-430-1320.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Love,
Pat
